MV Relaunches Successful Women Take the Lead Program

The successful leadership and development program for women in motorcycling will relaunch in 2016, and thanks to support from Sport & Recreation Victoria, will see the program reinvigorated and expanded to pack even more punch than before.

The program will consist of five workshops, focused around personal and professional development, to encourage and support more women to take up leadership opportunities within the motorcycling community.

A new location has been set for the 2016 program, and thanks to MV’s partnership with the hotel, it will take place at the Melbourne Parkview Hotel in August.

Women Take the Lead has been made possible thanks to Sport & Recreation Victoria’s – Supporting Victorian Sport and Recreation funding following on from the great success MV has with previous Women in Sport and Recreation funding.

Clare Nicholson, who following participation of the 2015 Women Take the Lead program, was elected as a MV Board Director said: “The Women Take the Lead program was a great opportunity for me to connect with like-minded women, improve my connections in the motorcycling network and enhance my life and business skills.

“The program was fun and engaging, allowing me to explore different avenues within the motorcycling community,” Clare added.

MV’s Inclusion and Committees Manager Peta Thomas has been working tirelessly to secure great presenters and cultivate the program.

We are very excited to be offering the program again in 2016 and I look forward to helping grow, develop and strengthen our female membership. We are grateful for the continued support of Sport and Recreation Victoria that has allowed us to build on last year and continue to offer this great opportunity for women in our sport.”

Wayne Holdsworth, MV’s CEO, is very supportive of the program continuing: “This world-recognised program by MV clearly demonstrates the importance we place in this very important area. Our commitment is unparalleled and we look forward to another great program facilitation.”

The first session of Women Take the Lead is set to launch on August 20 and applications are now open.
