Gear Review: GAERNE SG-12

I’ve ridden more in the past couple of weeks than I have in the months leading up to it. I rocked up to the 450 and 250 Motocross shootouts with the SG-12 boots ready to wear, but I had packed my old faithful SG-10 boots just in case they were too difficult to get used to. No such need to however. The Gaerne SG-12s didn’t affect my comfort on the bike and were solid yet extremely comfortable straight away. After a couple of hours I started getting sore ankles so I backed the buckles off a bit, which did the trick. They were just pressing too hard on the front of my foot and around my ankle. With them adjusted I was good to go. I rode the two days at the shootout on the Wednesday and Thursday, then headed to the Moto Master Class on the Saturday and Sunday and I’m about to head to Appin, NSW, for some more ride time tomorrow. The whole time the new boots are keeping me comfortable and my ankles super safe inside the boots. Two months down these boots still tick all the boxes. Will check in after some more punishment. – Matt Bernard
