Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing’s Cooper Webb has been crowned the 2025 AMA Supercross 450SX Champion after a hard-fought fourth-place finish at the season finale in Salt Lake City. The Rice-Eccles Stadium showdown capped off a gritty campaign for the North Carolina native, who claimed his third career premier class title and helped Yamaha secure the 2025 AMA Supercross Manufacturers Cup.

Webb and Chase Sexton respectfully battled hard all season, but Webb rode smarter to take the crown.

With a nine-point lead heading into the final round, Webb kept his cool under pressure. He qualified third, nailed the holeshot in his heat and led the opening laps before finishing second. In the main event, Webb again shot to the front, leading the opening four laps before settling into a consistent pace. He dropped back to fourth late in the race but held steady to lock in the championship.

“Man, what a night! To win this championship means the world to me,” Webb said. “There were a lot of hard-fought days to get to where we are at right now, and being a three-time champion is rare territory. I’ve got to give it up to the team, my family, and everyone in my corner. I really appreciate it.”

Webb’s 2025 campaign included five race wins and 13 podiums, highlighting his trademark grit and consistency.

Justin Cooper was on fire in the last half of the series to land third overall.

Teammate Justin Cooper also impressed with his third-consecutive podium, battling back to finish third on the night and secure third in the championship. The New York native qualified second, finished third in his heat, and climbed into podium position early in the main. After being pushed back to fourth mid-race, Cooper passed Webb to reclaim third and held it to the finish.

“It was good to end the season third in points. That was the goal with what we were given,” Cooper said. “The last three races we podiumed, so that was pretty cool. It was just fun to be in the fight with the guys. I had a great end to the season, and now we look forward to the outdoor season and to bringing this momentum there.”

Although sidelined for most of the year with a broken fibula sustained in Tampa qualifying, Eli Tomac left his mark early in the season. He took a memorable win in San Diego — his 53rd career Supercross victory — and is now set to return for the upcoming Pro Motocross Championship.

“I want to start off with a big congratulations to Webb on his third title! It was great for the team to have Coop clinch the championship, and Justin finish third in the points,” Simmons said. “The work our crew and riders put in for this type of success is hard to put into words, so I’m very happy for all of them to be rewarded for their efforts. What a great Supercross season for all three riders, overall. I want to thank them for that, and not forget Eli’s performance early in the season. We’re looking forward to having him back. We will enjoy the weekend off and then move our focus to motocross.”

The Monster Energy Yamaha Star Racing team will now enjoy a brief break before shifting gears to the 2025 Pro Motocross season, which kicks off on May 24 at Fox Raceway in Pala, California.
