The American legend is the events first major international signing for 2016.
By Hayden Gregory
The 27 year old retired from racing last year after a stellar career including multiple American championship titles. Villopoto is recognised as one of the greatest riders in the world having collected three 250 and two 450 outdoor crowns as well as four consecutive AMA Supercross Championships from 2011-2014.
A quick stint in the MXGP World Championship marked Villopoto’s last race in 2015, with the AUS-X Open set to mark his first event out of retirement. He joins Australia’s own Chad Rreed as a marquee singing for the weekend, and will no doubt be a major draw card among revellers.
More information and announcements surrounding the AUS-X Open are set to follow so stay tuned!
