Kirkland was ecstatic with his result in Nowra and will be looking to continue his hot run of form this weekend in Conondale. The MXD rider currently sits second place in the championship 18 points adrift of Connor Tierney.

“I’m really excited about heading to Conondale this weekend. I’ve never raced there before but I’ve heard lots about it, so it should be good,” Kirkland said.

“After taking my first round win at Nowra, the plan now is to just keep focussed every weekend and do the best I can every time I get on the bike.

“I’m still learning a lot, and many of the tracks we go to it’s the first time for me, so hopefully this weekend I can learn the layout quickly and hopefully get another good result for the team.”

In MX2, the Raceline Pirelli KTM team will be represented by Dylan Wills. Sitting in seventh place, Wills has enjoyed the extra week of practice and even got to spin a couple of laps with Chad Reed.

I’ve had a pretty productive two weeks since Nowra, I had the chance to try a couple of new fork and shock settings with the team, so it was good to develop the bike a bit more again,” Wills shared.

“I also got the chance to do a bit of riding with Chad Reed while he is over here out at Craig Anderson’s place which was pretty cool!

“I’m looking forward to the weekend, the track is fast and we have fast bikes so I’m excited to get out there, I haven’t been to Conondale since 2012 so it should be fun.”

Round seven of the Motul MX Nationals will take place this Sunday at Conondale, Queensland.
