The Australian finished four minutes behind leader Pablo Quintanilla in the second stage of racing.

Rockstar Energy Husqvarna rider Quintanilla led home KTM riders Sam Sunderland and Toby Price overnight taking with him the overall lead. The stage consisted of a 279km ride with the leading trio finishing in just over four hours.
In wake of the result Toby Price posted a photo on his Facebook with Sunderland, Quintanilla and himself. The caption read, “I think this is what we are going to see for the next 3 days of the Abu Dhabi Desert Challenge! Happy to finish Stage 2 in 3rd behind Pablo Quintanilla and Sam Sunderland. Opening the track is the worst thing you can do out here in the desert, but it was a such rad last 15 – 20km from the finish we all pushed like it was a motocross race!”
Stage three of the five part race will continue tonight with a 370km ride, 280 of which are against the clock.
