DEAN FERRIS STEPS UP

Aussie rider and recent GP winner, Dean Ferris has signed a new deal with Dixons Yamaha to race the YZ-F450 in the MXGP class in 2014. Dean has had a huge year in the MX2 class and added his name to the very short list of Australians who have won a GP and finished 2012 in sixth overall.

“I actually think I am a better 450 rider,” said Dean. “And it was always my intention to be racing Grands Prix in MX1 so I’m happy that we got everything sorted. I can’t wait.”

To top things off, he was selected for the Aussie Motocross of Nations team which capped-off an amazing year for the 23 year old. Dean will have some fresh Aussie company in 2014 with riders Todd Waters and Luke Styke both heading to Europe to take on the World Championship. This represents a break from the accepted route of leaving Australia to go and take on the American Supercross.

At a time when there is much criticism of the way our national motocross series is run, it’s a fair endorsement on what we do have that three riders have found homes on GP teams.

Best of luck to Dean, Todd and Luke and bring on the MXoN.
