The BBR 102 Motorsports Team are proud to release their Indigenous themed race bike for the 6th round of the Australian Pro MX Championship.

“Coffs Harbour being a local round for our team we always had an intention to pay respect to the local indigenous community the Gumbaynggirr people by an indigenous themed bike. We have worked with local indigenous artist Reece Flanders to create this unique bike who which is done representing the Arrawarra fish traps” said Bayden Blanchette, owner of BBR 102 Motorsports.

“The Arrawarra Headland and Stone Fish Traps are a remarkable example of a spiritual and cultural landscape located on the Coffs Coast and they hold great significance for the Gumbaynggirr people, The Arrawarra Fish Traps have been around for thousands of years and also hold strong cultural and spiritual importance to the Garby Elders of the Gumbaynggirr people.” Finished Blanchette.

Additionally, also represented is the Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan Aboriginal Corporation (BMNAC). Bularri Muurlay Nyanggan translates to ‘two path strong’ in the Gumbaynggirr language which set the tone for the goals and vision of the organisation. BMNAC programs that are delivered through schools and community, designed to ensure that Aboriginal youth are strong in terms of both cultural identity and educational success. It is their goal that Aboriginal children complete and achieve at school at the same rate as all Australian children in order to compete for real jobs whilst also being knowledgeable and proud of who they are as strong Aboriginal people. In 2022, BMNAC opened the Gumbaynggirr Giingana Freedom School, the first bilingual school of an Aboriginal language in NSW.

The BBR 102 Motorsports team will be on track this weekend, 24th July, at the Coffs Harbour Motocross Track. Gates opening at 7am and racing kicking off at 10am.
