The Australian Motocross Championship (ProMX) will enter a new era in 2027, with Williams Event Management (WEM) acquiring the commercial rights to the series.
Owned by long-time motocross stalwart Kevin Williams, WEM will take over all operational, media, marketing, fixturing and financial aspects of ProMX, with the new ownership structure effective immediately.
Motocross has been a major part of WEM’s history, with the company previously promoting the Australian Motocross Championship, then known as the MX Nationals, from 1997 through to 2020.

During that time, WEM oversaw significant growth of the championship and developed a competitive multi-class professional structure, including dedicated categories for women and emerging junior riders.
Six years after stepping away from the Australian championship, Williams is excited to return to the ProMX scene.
“We’re excited to be back to lead the next chapter of the Australian Motocross Championship,” Williams said.
“Motocross has always been a major part of WEM and, while I’ve spent less time at Australian motocross events in recent years, I’ve remained heavily involved through Australian Supercross, the FIM Motocross Commission and MXGP.
“Our focus is firmly on the future. A strong commercial model is critical to the championship’s long-term sustainability, and we’ll focus on growing crowds and building the championship’s global exposure.
“We’re already well advanced with our plans for 2027, with the championship direction and calendar to be announced in the first week of November.”

Motorcycling Australia CEO Peter Doyle said WEM’s experience made it a strong fit to promote the championship.
“WEM’s long history with the Australian Motocross Championship speaks for itself,” Doyle said.
“Over three decades, WEM worked tirelessly to elevate the stature of the championship to the extent that it was the envy of many other domestic series around the globe.
“That guile and experience count for a lot, not only in terms of event management, but WEM will also be putting a magnifying glass over all aspects of the championship to make it the best possible product it can be.
“A new era of ProMX has arrived, and I am excited to see it all play out in 2027 and beyond.”
More details on the direction of the 2027 ProMX Championship, including the calendar, are expected to be announced in the first week of November.
