KTM is bringing the LC4 platform back to its rally-inspired roots with the new 2027 KTM 690 Rally, a long-distance adventure machine designed to bridge the gap between lightweight enduro agility and rally-raid capability.
Positioned as the spiritual successor to the iconic KTM 640 Adventure, the 690 Rally is based on the proven KTM 690 Enduro R platform but adds a purpose-built focus on extended range and long-distance off-road riding.
The biggest change is a dedicated rally tower with an integrated windscreen, creating a proper rally-style cockpit for longer days in the saddle. Dual front-mounted fuel tanks increase capacity to approximately 20 litres, giving the 690 Rally considerably more range for venturing into remote terrain.
KTM says the new model is designed to handle everything from technical off-road riding through to high-speed liaison sections, combining the lighter, more agile feel of an enduro bike with the range and stability required for longer adventures.
The LC4-powered 690 Enduro R has long occupied an interesting position in KTM’s line-up, offering significantly less weight and bulk than larger adventure models while retaining enough performance for open terrain and highway sections. The 690 Rally takes that formula in a more focused direction, with its rally cockpit and increased fuel capacity aimed squarely at riders wanting to head further off the beaten track.
For riders looking for a big-distance adventure bike without stepping up to the weight and size of KTM’s larger twin-cylinder models, the 690 Rally could be an interesting proposition.
The new 2027 KTM 690 Rally will be available through authorised KTM dealers in Australia and New Zealand from December 2026.
