There are no major mechanical changes to the 2027 KTM 300 EXC HARDENDURO, but when you already have one of the most popular extreme enduro bikes around, why mess with the recipe?
The 300 EXC’s appeal comes down to a combination that works exceptionally well in difficult terrain: low weight, strong but manageable power, predictable handling and quality suspension.
The 300cc TBI two-stroke engine is a big part of the equation. It delivers plenty of torque and instant response, but its smooth, linear power delivery gives the bike a surprisingly four-stroke-like feel. It’s playful and responsive when you want it, yet easy to control when you’re picking your way through tight, technical terrain.
The lightweight chassis makes the KTM easy to manoeuvre when the going gets ugly, whether you’re threading between trees, working through rocks or trying to turn the bike around on a steep climb. At the same time, the chassis offers plenty of stability when speeds increase.
Suspension is another strong point, with the WP XACT Closed Cartridge fork offering excellent performance straight out of the box. The HardEnduro version also gets base-valve preload adjusters for additional tuning options.
As you’d expect from the HardEnduro model, the equipment list is extensive. It comes with a radiator fan, wrap-around handguards, skid plate, floating front brake disc and guard, solid rear disc, clutch slave-cylinder protection, pull straps and Metzeler 6 Days Extreme tyres with a soft rear.
The Factory wheelset features black Excel rims, black spokes, orange hubs and orange nipples, while CNC-machined triple clamps, Supersprox Stealth rear sprocket, Factory frame protection and a ribbed Diamante Factory seat add to the premium package.
For 2027, the main change is a new HardEnduro graphics package, with the proven platform carrying over largely unchanged.
And that’s probably the biggest compliment you can give the 300 EXC HardEnduro. It remains a lightweight, capable and confidence-inspiring weapon for riders who spend their weekends looking for the nastiest terrain they can find.
The 2027 KTM 300 EXC HARDENDURO is expected at authorised KTM dealers in Australia and New Zealand from November 2026.
