Cameron Dunker has strengthened his grip on the 2026 Yamaha Aussie Flat Track Nationals championship after claiming victory at round two on the demanding TT layout at Maryborough’s Action Park.
Fresh from his opening-round success, Dunker backed it up with another overall win, using consistency and smart race craft to edge out Queensland rival Max Whale in one of the closest battles of the weekend.
Whale was the rider to beat early, taking convincing victories in the opening two races, but the championship leader struck back when it mattered most. Dunker claimed maximum points in the unique back-to-back third race format before sealing the overall win with another strong finish.
The final race belonged to rising star Riley Nauta, who capped off an impressive day by taking his maiden Pro450 race victory after earlier shocking the field with the fastest Superpole time. The ASBK Supersport 300 front-runner showed he has plenty of speed on the dirt, taking the chequered flag ahead of Dunker, John Lytras and Ronan Jacobs.
Despite missing the top step in an individual race, Dunker’s consistency proved the difference as he extended his championship momentum heading into the Victorian rounds.
“It was unreal racing for me, and I’ve enjoyed every bit of it,” said Dunker.
“The track was a bit tough there in the end, but everyone ended up making it through alright.”
The Junior Lites class again produced some of the best racing of the day, with Jed Fyffe and Neiko Donovan renewing their fierce rivalry. Fyffe claimed three race wins to secure the overall victory and extend his championship lead to 30 points, while Tahj Edwards rounded out the podium ahead of Ryke Haller.
Grace Hudson continued her dominant run in Pro Women, completing another clean sweep by taking all four race wins as well as the fastest qualifying bonus points. Local rider Latiya Hyde enjoyed a strong weekend in second, while Lori Gow recovered from an early crash to finish fifth after borrowing a bike to complete the day.
Junior 85 honours went to Kru Tulloch, who looked right at home on the TT circuit. Two race victories and the fastest qualifying time saw him claim the overall win ahead of Flynn Beard and Cooper Quinn, with Tulloch also moving to the top of the championship standings.
Hudson Raffin claimed the 65 Trackers overall with two race wins, while Glenn Smith’s consistency earned him victory in the Over 35s class despite stiff competition from Neil Girdler and Ajay Muggleton.
The Yamaha Aussie Flat Track Nationals now heads south for a double-header at Wodonga, Victoria, with rounds three and four scheduled for August 29-30.
