Bulletproof CP2 engine
Producing its maximum torque at 6500rpm, Yamaha’s twin-cylinder 689cc CP2 engine offers the ideal balance of performance and controllability. Excellent fuel economy and proven durability allow the Ténéré 700 to cover long distances between fuel stops. To cater to the unique requirements of adventure riders, the final transmission has been optimised. Model-specific fuel injection settings offer outstanding versatility and remarkable performance in different riding environments.
During the development of the Ténéré 700, one of the key goals was to achieve a slim, agile, and light-feeling chassis equally suited to both road and off-road riding. To satisfy these requirements Yamaha’s designers developed an all-new lightweight double cradle tubular steel frame that combines a low weight with immense strength, making it ideally suited a variety of riding conditions. Featuring a compact 1590mm wheelbase and a slim body, this rugged chassis delivers responsive handling characteristics, and with 240mm of ground clearance, the Ténéré 700 can tackle the roughest terrain. The 21-inch front and 18-inch rear spoked wheels efficiently absorb the continuous impacts experienced when riding in rough terrain. Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR tyres are fitted as original equipment.
Serious off-road suspension
When riding in the dirt the best possible suspension system is required, and the Ténéré 700’s long travel forks are undeniable evidence that this is a serious adventure bike. The flex resistant 43mm forks, with full damping adjustment, stay in shape over the most extreme terrain to give precision steering and smooth suspension action. Rally-bred link-type rear suspension delivers smooth and progressive action for maximum riding comfort and enhanced levels of control. Featuring a lightweight aluminium swingarm for low unsprung weight, the high specification rear end offers 200mm of travel, and features a remote adjuster allowing the rider to fine-tune the preload settings on the go.
When riding off-road there’s the option to temporarily disable the ABS via a button on the dash. With the ABS turned off the rider can take full manual control.
Four LED headlights are stacked in a 2 + 2 layout and protected by a clear nacelle. They project powerful beams of light to illuminate the darkest wilderness. The rally-style instruments are located centrally behind the screen for great visibility. The lightweight instrument panel displays a wide range of information that can be absorbed by riders without having to take their eyes off the road or track. The compact rally screen and nose fairing offer excellent protection from the wind while maintaining the slim and lightweight character of the bike. Competition-type tapered handlebars, flat 880mm high seat, and slim body allow maximum rider agility, while the compact bodywork and narrow fuel tank also provide a strong grip on the tank with the knees, whether sitting or standing.
