Motorcycling Australia (MA) has announced a strong Team Australia line-up to compete in the 2025 FIM Junior Motocross World Championship (WJMX), held at Romagne in France from July 4-6.

The riders are:

• 65cc: Kye Sproule (NSW, Yamaha) and Mason Ezergailis (Vic, KTM)

• 85cc: Seth Thomas (NSW, KTM) and Blake Bohannon (NSW, Yamaha).

No 125cc riders have been selected for this year due to clashes with ProMX Rd.6 – Canberra as the focus for leading MX3 riders remains with the Australian Championship.

All four Australian riders are perennial front-runners in the local junior ranks, with Bohannon and Thomas currently running 1-2 in the Fox Racing MX85 class at the 2025 Penrite ProMX Championship presented by AMX Superstores, while Ezergailis and Sproule are first and third in the KTM Group MX65 Futures.

Bohannon, Thomas and Ezergailis also won classes at the 2024 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship in Bunbury.

Thomas and Ezergailis both competed at the 2024 WJMX in the Netherlands, with the former 12th in the 85cc class and Ezergailis eighth in the 65cc class.

The level of talent in the WJMX is extraordinary, with over 200 riders from 30 countries lining up at the starting gates in France.

As the pinnacle of junior competition, the championship is also a stepping stone into the professional ranks, with Queensland superstar Jett Lawrence a prime example after winning the 65cc class in 2014.

Bailey Malkiewicz was also an Aussie WJMX winner in the 125s when Horsham hosted the championship in 2018, and others to podium in the junior showpiece over the years include Tye Simmonds, Hunter Lawrence, Kayden Minear, Ky Woods and Caleb Grothues.

“It’s exciting to be able to take this group to Romagne, see how they perform on the world stage, and hopefully inspire other young riders.”

Peter Doyle, CEO, Motorcycling Australia:

“I am absolutely delighted with the line-up of talented young riders who will represent Team Australia on the world stage at WJMX in 2025.

“In line with the continued growth of motocross racing in Australia, MA is proud to continue supporting juniors on the world stage and l’m looking forward to seeing how this year’s team performs against the world’s best.”
