Major chassis, engine and suspension upgrades headline a new generation of KTM and Husqvarna motocross machinery, with the 2027 Factory Editions offering a first look at the next evolution of both brands’ SX and FC platforms.

KTM and Husqvarna Motorcycles have unveiled their next-generation 2027 Factory Edition motocross line-ups, introducing significant changes to their flagship four-stroke race machines.
The new KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition and 250 SX-F Factory Edition, alongside Husqvarna’s FC 450 Factory Edition and FC 250 Factory Edition, receive extensive updates across their engines, chassis, suspension, ergonomics and servicing arrangements.
Developed with feedback from professional and amateur riders, and informed by championship-level racing experience, the new Factory Editions represent a substantial rethink of the current motocross platform, rather than a simple component and graphics refresh.
The updates also provide the technical foundation for the forthcoming 2028 KTM SX range.
KTM: A new generation of SX-F machinery
For 2027, KTM has focused its development programme around three key areas: ride, power and competition.
Both the KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition and 250 SX-F Factory Edition receive newly developed frames with revised geometry, stiffness characteristics, steering heads and engine mounting points. The redesigned chassis aims to reduce weight while improving agility, stability, and rider feedback.

The aluminium subframe is described as the lightest to come out of the factory, while the wheelbase can be lengthened. A redesigned, CNC-machined triple clamp is also part of the updated package.
Suspension is another major development, with both models receiving fully revised WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks and a new shock. KTM says the revised suspension and chassis combination delivers improved nimbleness, stability, compliance and more predictable feedback across different riding conditions.
Rider ergonomics have also been revisited, with a slimmer profile, increased leg contact area, a new seat and updated footpeg surfaces designed to improve movement and control on the bike.
More performance from the 250 SX-F
One of the biggest developments is the extensively redesigned engine powering the KTM 250 SX-F Factory Edition.
The new quarter-litre four-stroke features an oval throttle body, oval intake ports, a top-feed injector and a completely redesigned valve train. Compression has increased to 15.5:1, while the rev limit climbs to 14,500rpm, matching the specification used by KTM racers in MXGP and AMA Supercross and Motocross competition.

The engine has also been repositioned 2.3mm higher in the frame, contributing to the revised mass centralisation.
KTM says the development delivers a new level of performance for a production single-cylinder 250cc four-stroke, while the broader package has been engineered to retain manageable power delivery.
More muscle from the 450 SX-F
The KTM 450 SX-F Factory Edition also receives an engine performance boost, with peak output quoted at 63.8hp at 10,000rpm and 52Nm of torque at 7,000rpm.
A new exhaust system, revised engine packaging and updated electronic management contribute to the power delivery, with KTM focusing on making the additional performance accessible and controllable.
Both engines benefit from a revised gearbox designed to be lighter and more robust, with smoother shifting. The updated Engine Management System features a new ECU that processes sensor information faster and uses more advanced algorithms to influence ignition, fuelling and gear-dependent mapping.
Quickshifter functionality has also been improved.

Race-focused equipment and servicing
The Factory Editions receive a comprehensive list of premium components, including Brembo braking equipment, NEKEN handlebars, EXCEL wheels, ODI lock-on grips and Selle Dalla Valle seat covers.
The WP PRO COMPONENTS package includes the triple clamps and start device, while the updated EXCEL wheel package features a new spoke layout.
KTM has also revised the cooling system, airbox and exhaust system, with maintenance and servicing considerations built into the new design.
A more accessible hour meter, updated component positioning and revised maintenance guidelines are among the practical changes aimed at making pre-race preparation and post-race servicing easier.
Husqvarna: Next-generation FC 250 and FC 450 Factory Editions
Husqvarna Motorcycles has also revealed its new-generation FC 250 Factory Edition and FC 450 Factory Edition, bringing their own styling and equipment package alongside a series of chassis and suspension updates.
The FC 250 Factory Edition receives an all-new engine designed to deliver strong performance without compromising rideability.

The redesigned double overhead camshaft engine features a higher compression ratio, increased rev limit, oval throttle body, oval inlet and a cylinder head with a machined combustion chamber.
The new engine aims to deliver stronger, more controllable performance throughout the rev range while retaining the smooth and predictable character Husqvarna says allows riders to perform at their best.
Both Husqvarna Factory Editions benefit from the latest WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks, revised rear suspension layout and updated chassis geometry.
Husqvarna says extensive back-to-back testing with riders ranging from amateurs through to world championship competitors helped refine the suspension package, with improvements in front-end feel, damping consistency and rider confidence across a variety of track conditions.
The new engines are positioned slightly higher in the chassis to improve anti-squat behaviour, while the revised WP XACT shock connects to a new linkage. Its positioning also allows for a straighter air intake.

Both models feature revised intake layouts, top-feed fuel injection, and the latest Engine Management System, aiming to optimise combustion efficiency, throttle response, and power delivery.
New exhaust systems incorporate resonator chambers in the header pipe, while revised wiring harness routing and optimised component positioning improve serviceability.
Factory equipment and new styling
Husqvarna’s new Factory Editions receive a predominantly white colour scheme with dark blue accents, highlighting the brand’s Swedish heritage and functional design approach.
The equipment package includes:
- WP PRO COMPONENTS Factory Racing triple clamps and start device
- WP XACT closed-cartridge spring forks and revised rear suspension
- Factory Racing wheel set
- Dunlop Geomax MX34 tyres
