AUSSIE MXON TEAM ANNOUNCED

Gibbs Ktm

The 2018 Australian Motocross of Nations team has been selected with Kirk Gibbs and Mitch Evans on the 450s and Hunter Lawrence on the 250. Lawrence and Gibbs are coming off injuries but both had great rides in the last MXoN.

“I am extremely happy with the selection as it was a bit of unknown this year with my injury, but I’ve been working hard off the track hoping for this call,” said Gibbs. “Coming back for a second year is great, the butterflies won’t be as bad and just getting the chance to put the green and gold on is such a privilege. Big thanks to those who selected me and have shown belief in me.”

Freshly anointed Motocross Nationals champion, Dean Ferris, was unavailable for selection due to supercross commitments and although Chad Reed made a push for selection it wasn’t to be, which will almost certainly cap off his representative chances. Aussie racing legend Michael Byrne will be the team boss ands will guide Lawrence, Gibbs and Evans through what should be an epic event at Red Bud (USA) on October 6-7. Most eyes will be on who will come out on top between Tomac and Herlings while the French stunned the world by not selecting Marvin Musquin, who won the Red Bud AMA round this year. It’s a tough year to pick but the UAS team looks damn strong with Tomac, Barcia and Plesinger looking to win the trophy back on home soil.
