Stark has released the VARG MX 1.2, the latest version of its electric motocross bike, with updates aimed at improving range, handling, durability, and overall usability compared to the original VARG MX.
Power and Performance
The 1.2 retains the 80hp peak output of its predecessor, with a power delivery that can be more finely tuned to rider preference and track conditions. A new, lighter, and more efficient gearbox helps improve overall drive feel. Weight remains low for its class, maintaining the bike’s strong power-to-weight advantage.

Chassis and Handling
A revised steel-alloy frame — lighter by almost a kilo — is now made from a material twice as strong as the chromoly steel used by other European manufacturers. Chassis flex has been reworked, with more lateral flex up front for better cornering grip and revised vertical flex at the rear shock mount for improved comfort under load. Reduced rotating mass also helps the bike feel more agile, while an optional titanium hardware package can shave a further 900g.
Battery and Range
A new 7.2kWh battery increases range by around 20%, meaning more riding between charges. The battery sits in a reinforced housing designed to cope with heavy off-road use.

Electronics and Controls
The updated Arkenstone display and docking station is lighter, stronger, and offers faster connectivity, improved brightness, and a better clamping system. It now supports GPS lap timing and navigation via “Lap Mode” — a feature that will also roll out to existing VARG models in the coming months. The waterproof map switch is now internally cabled through the handlebars for cleaner routing and better protection, with an option for external routing if required.
Suspension and Components
KYB forks feature a revised mid-valve shim stack for better stability and balance. A redesigned chain guide is 266% stiffer laterally, with only a minimal weight increase. A reinforced, dual-compound skid plate offers better underside protection and is fully biodegradable. New inner tubes aim to improve puncture resistance and durability.

Customisation and Rider Options
The VARG MX 1.2 offers a choice of Dunlop MX34 or Pirelli MX32 tyres with tubes or mousse, three seat grip levels (Standard, Grip, SuperGrip), and a Brembo braking system that can be foot or handlebar-operated. An 18-inch rear wheel and side stand are available for off-road/XC riders.
On-Track Development
Racing Director Sébastien Tortelli says competition has directly shaped the bike’s evolution: “Every race, every rider, every condition feeds into what we build… We’re delivering more traction, more stability, more features, and a longer range.”
Motocross veteran Kevin Windham, after testing the bike, called it “the future,” praising its instant power, predictable handling, and how quickly it felt natural compared to petrol bikes.

The VARG MX 1.2 is available worldwide in two versions:
