Woffinden at the Top of his Game

The Australian Born, British rider took top honours at the Warsaw FIM Speedway Grand Prix held over the weekend.

Woffiden was clinical in front of 52 000 screaming Polish fan scoring nine points in the heats before claiming second in the semi to Matej Zagar. In the GP finale he secured the chequered flag with a sensational cutback on the opening corner to beat triple world champion Greg Hancock and and Zagar.

“We’re looking forward to the rest of the season and I am happy with how everything is going.” Woffinden, said. “I learnt a lot tonight and I’m going to take that forward with me. It’s going to be a long season, as it always is. But I feel like we’ve got the resources to do what we need to do. 

“I feel on top of my game. I feel the mistakes I made tonight, I won’t make them again.”

“I haven’t thought about the next GP. I didn’t actually know when the next GP was until I heard about five minutes ago. That’s the way I work.

“The less I think about speedway, the better for me. It’s nice to have a Sunday off, so I can go back home and relax with Faye. It’ll be a nice weekend.”

The victory now positions Woffinden in second place for the World Championship tied on 24 points with Greg Hancock. Chris Holder retains the lead on 26.
