Yamaha Junior Racing’s Mackenzie Tricker has claimed the 2011 Australian Girls Junior Motocross championship after the week long race event wrapped up at Murray Bridge in South Australia on Saturday afternoon.

Competing in the 13 to Under 16 years Girls 125/250cc event, Tricker struggled with the conditions all week but still managed to post the win in a nail biting affair, after she won the final moto of the five finals contested during the week.

The ever changing weather conditions challenged all riders with the racing surface changing from dry and dusty early in the week, to muddy and deep for the middle part before the sun again dried the track out and made for perfect conditions on the final two days.

“It was such a relief to win that last race and win the championship,” said Tricker. “I really didn’t ride my best this week but I was able to get good starts and pull the race wins out when I needed them.

A big thank-you to Yamaha Junior Racing and the team sponsors as well as my parents who put in a huge effort for my racing.”

Queenslander Joel Dinsdale pulled dual podiums finishing second in both the 13 to 14 years 125/150cc and also the 13 to 14 years 250cc. Dinsdale went head to head with rising US star Jordan Smith and the pair simply raced away from their competitors. Their lap times were by far the fastest of the week, regardless of class and Dinsdale simply put is the fastest junior racer in the country and it took a special rider from overseas to beat him.

I gave it everything I had,” Dinsdale gasped after the final race. “ I have never had to ride so fast for so long and it just wore me out, especially when I don’t think I took a breath for the first two laps of the final 250 race.”

But I had a great week down here and racing Jordan was awesome. He is a good guy and rode unreal and deserved his win. We spoke a bit during the week and after the final race he came over and swapped jerseys with me, so that was cool of him.”

“He is talking about coming back next year and I hope he does as I want to keep racing with riders as good as him.

The Milesevic family will also take home plenty of trophies with Joel taking third in the 15 years 125cc division and sister Emma taking a podium double with second in the Girls 85cc class and third in the Girls 125/250cc.

Western Australia’s Kyle Webster also parked his Yamaha on the podium taking third place in the 13 to 14 years 250cc in a breakout performance.

Honorable mentions must also go to Billy Jackson and Jed Beaton who both just missed the podium in their respective classes.

On hand to witness the final days’ action was Yamaha Motorsport Manager who had this to say at the completion of racing.

The Yamaha Junior Racing teams have again done a fantastic job in not only getting good results but also presenting a professional and well organized effort to give our riders the best opportunity.

Congratulations to Mackenzie on her win and all the riders for a top effort and we hope to go bigger and better for the 2012 event in Coolum.
