Despite having a three week break following round three of the MX Nationals at Broadford, Jay Wilson is still suffering from an injured wrist which he picked up at the season opener.

Wilson is refusing to give into the injury which he admits will need surgery during the mid season break.

“I’ve been carrying a bit of a wrist injury since round one which will require surgery in the break, but in the last three weeks I’ve actually had more fun on the bike than I’ve had all year,” he said.

There’s something about the change up of terrain, the sand that just makes things more exciting. It’s a real skill to be a sand rider so in the last three weeks I’ve been working on riding in softer conditions.

“Even though I’ve got this niggling injury I’m still going to be pushing myself all the way up to round five. I’ve got some fun memories of Murray Bridge so hopefully we can add to those this weekend.”

Wilson will be joined on the MX1 starting gate by team mate Dylan Long who will be looking to improve upon his season best moto finish of fifth at Broadford.

I was much happier with my results at round three, and now that we’re heading to some different tracks, I’m excited to see what we can do in the sand,” he said.

“We’ve had a good few weeks of training on the Honda, and we’ve changed our program up a little bit to prepare for the sand, so all in all we’re in a good place.

“It’s going to be a big two weeks with back to back rounds, but we’re improving every time we get on the bike so I’m excited to go racing at Murray Bridge.”

The Crankt Protein Honda Racing Team will head to Murray Bridge in South Australia for round four of the Motul MX Nationals, this Sunday May 22.
