The 2015/16 Maxxis FIM SuperEnduro World Championship has kicked off with an action packed opening night of racing. Webb laid claim to early honours as the man to beat showing blistering pace to top the Akrapovic SuperPole.

In the first of three races Webb battled hard to pass early pace setter Jonny Walker. A mistake by the Brit allowed Webb to pass, taking with him maximum race points. A bad start in the second left the KTM rider deep in the field before more drama left him in sixth place.

Mathematically Webb could still top the overall but he had to find another gear, and that he did. He bounced back for the final race of the night to top the field with a score of 1-6-1.

It’s an awesome feeling to come away with the win in Poland,” Webb said. “It was tough out there tonight, everyone was pushing so hard, and mistakes were common. Two race wins and the overall is a fantastic way to kick off the championship.”

Agonisingly, Jonny Walker would end the night just one point behind Webb. The Englishmen had an extremely consistent night with three second place finishes, but ultimately it just wasn’t enough for the overall.

“I’m happy with how I rode tonight,” said Walker. “I wanted to deliver a consistent result and I managed to do just that. My riding is good and I’m looking forward now to round two in Germany.”

Home town hero Taddy Blazusiak made a positive return to racing following a long time off with illness. The support of his fans helped tenfold no doubt as he recorded a card of 4-3-7 for third place overall.

That was an eventful night’s racing. There were a lot of crashes so I’m happy with third,” Blazusiak said. “The pace was hot; all the guys were racing on the limit. My crash in race three almost cost me a podium result – I really had to dig deep to recover from that.”

Husqvarna’s Colton Haaker raced to fourth place overall on the night despite recording his first career SuperEnduro race win. The American rode a start to finish victory in the second race which will not go unnoticed by his competitors.

Round two of the Maaxis, FIM SuperEnduro World Championship will take place on January 2 at Riesa, Germany.
