KTM DOMINATE INDIANAPOLIS | AMA SUPERCROSS

Ktm Podium

It was an all-orange podium at the 11th round of the AMA Supercross Championship as KTM continued its dominance. Red Bull KTM Factory Racing’s Marvin Musquin broke through for his first win of the season, while  Rocky Mountain ATV/MC – WPS – FLY – KTM’s Blake Baggett charged home for second ahead of Cooper Webb who maintained the championship lead.

It was an all-around good day for Musquin, who qualified second in the 450SX class and went on to secure a solid second-place transfer into the Main Event. Musquin kept his momentum rolling as he powered his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITION to the holeshot in the Main Event. Despite much action behind him, Musquin remained poised and in control of the race as he led all 26 laps of the AMA Supercross Main Event to secure his first victory of 2019 in Indianapolis.

Musquin: “It’s always a tough track here in Indy, but it’s always been good to me. I won twice on the 250 and now twice on the 450, so obviously I love coming here. I thought about it coming into the weekend and, you know, I won here last year so I was excited for the racing and I think it showed tonight.”

Meanwhile, Webb leaves Round 11 with his eighth podium finish of the year and the red number plate mounted to his KTM 450 SX-F FACTORY EDITON. Webb qualified third behind Musquin and he claimed a heat race win to put himself into a favorable position heading into the Main Event. He got a fifth place start in the main, moving into fourth by lap two. He battled inside the top-four through the first half of the race before putting on a hard charge late in the race. With 10 laps to go, Webb powered his way past Eli Tomac to overtake third, and from there he charged up to the back-end of Baggett in the second spot. Webb tried everything to make a move but, in the end, he secured the final podium position in third.

Webb: “A podium sweep for KTM once again is nice, I’ll take it! For me, it was a tough race. I didn’t get the best start so I had to make some passes and then I stalled the bike and lost a couple positions. I was pretty bummed on that because I felt like I was in a good position to win. It wasn’t my best Main Event, so I was pumped to still get third with it.”
