Honda Gariboldi’s Tim Gajser excelled on the picturesque track with a 3-1 result in the premier class. The nineteen year old beat home Antonio Cairoli in second and Maximilian Nagl third.

“I had a really good weekend”, the Slovenian said, “I won my first ever qualifying race yesterday and I took a FOX holeshot and won today. Next we go to Mexico and I have good memories there, I won my first ever MX2 race there and I really like the track so I look forward to going there.”

It has been a long time between drinks for Cairoli who recorded his first podium result since May last year.

I’m not yet at my best,” he said, “but I have to make the best of it, I am happy with my riding although I have to ride different to what I am used to because I feel not strong enough in some places. But it’s ok and it gets better and better.” Second overall here in Argentina saw TC222 jump from fifth in the championship standings up to third.

2015 champion Romain Febvre failed to make the podium for the first time in 16 rounds, ending his impressive streak. The Monster Energy Yamaha rider crashed a number of times in both races to end 6-3.  Despite the result Febvre keeps a hold of the red leader’s plate.

In MX2 racing Jeffrey Herlings once again dominated, looking extremely confident in his 100th race win. Jeremy Seewer battled hard for second place after banging bars a number of times with other riders.

I feel amazing I have been on the podium three times in a row now, I will try to keep on going like this,” Seewer said.

Aleksandr Tonkov proved very consistent to finish in third place with a 3-3 result. A Pauls Jonass DNF also allowed Tonkov to move into third place for the overall championship standings.
