A return trip to Anaheim has seen Dungey extend his overall points lead in the championship, charging to the 24th win of his career. It was a masterful showing as the American reigned in holeshot winner Davi Millsaps on the third lap. From that stage on he never looked back with Australian legend Chad Reed the only rider keeping him honest.

“I had to charge the first five laps,” said Dungey. “Chad [Reed] was on it tonight, and I know he wanted to get his ninth win here in Anaheim.”

For the second week in a row Reed placed runner up with another powerful showing for Yamaha. The Aussie moved into second place on lap five and once again gave his all to chase down Dungey.

Reed was hungry for his ninth career win at Anaheim as he moved to third overall on the 450SX all time start list with 188.

“I keep telling myself that I should appreciate second-place finishes, but I am a competitor,” said Reed. “I wanted my ninth win in Anaheim tonight, but we will keep pushing.”

On the final lap of the race, Eli Tomac gunned for second before falling from his bike, gifting third place to Ken Roczen. Tomac was able to recover quickly only dropping the one place, with Jason Anderson rounding out the top five.

Australian DPH Motorsport Yamaha rider Lawson Bopping had a positive night, making his second main event of the season to finish in 18th place.
