In just over a week’s time, hundreds of Australia’s youngsters will take to the sandy conditions in Bunbury, for the weeklong motocross competition, that will eventually see Australia’s newest junior champions crowned.

For AJMX Coordinator Vanessa Oinn, preparations for the 2015 KTM Australian Junior Motocross Championship are in full swing, and shared that the whole Bunbury region is excited to welcome the masses when the event kicks off on September 26.

“Everything is progressing very, very well. The Final Instructions have gone out, programs go to print this afternoon, we have a big meeting with our officials on Saturday, and everyone’s roles for the event have been delegated,” she said.

“All of the caravan parks have jumped on board to offer discounted rates for competitors, there’s a camping facility at the track – all in all Bunbury is ready, and we’ll be welcoming everyone with open arms.

“Bunbury is definitely gearing up for a huge week of racing and being just over a week away now, it’s all getting very exciting.”

In addition to the local support, Oinn also mentioned that the track at Bunbury would receive its final touches this weekend, and how important hosting the 2015 KTM AJMX is to the wider Bunbury community.

“The track is all set to be finalized and fully prepped this weekend,” she said.

“We had a little bit of rain last week, which kept the machinery off the track, but it’s having it’s final good licking on the weekend with our big working bee. Then it’s pretty much just going to be sitting there looking pretty, waiting for the hundreds of junior racers.

“The AJMX being held in Bunbury is very important. It’s going to generate a lot of income to the town, and put Bunbury on the map – it really is the gateway to the southwest for the tourism industry.

“Motorcycling in WA is very strong, and we have a great team of athletes competing in this year’s AJMX too. It’s going to be fantastic to see some local lads have a crack at the track, and show Australia just how competitive they are.”
