After Coolum (which you can read all about in the next issue, which we just finished and is bloody awesome), I had to hand over my KTM and await my new project (2010 YZ250F, but more about that in a while). With the KTM finishing its duties in the mag, and a need for it elsewhere, it was time for me to bid a sad farewell. We'd really grown together over the last few months and put in lot of hours, more than my wife would really like.. Thanks babe! A big thanks to everyone who's been involved with the bike so far.. especially Kenny Wheeler and the boys at the Motorex KTM race team. They've really done a good job of making sure I had everything I needed and more. But it's good to see that the bike has now moved on too what is probably greener pastures... which brings me to this last weekend.
Having no bike sucks, but when someone rings you up to come and watch them ride your old bike.. well, that's even worse!
Actually, in this case, it's not so bad, as Dan McCoy is now the new owner of my old #13 rig. DMC has freshly signed a deal to race for the Coastal KTM team for SuperX and whilst waiting for the 2010 models to turn up, he's turned my old chariot into his practice bike. He called me on friday arvo to come out and watch himself, Matt Moss Justin Girotto and a couple of others ride at the Free 2 Ride compound just near where we live. This place is mental, and Brian from Free 2 Ride is pretty keen on helping out some of the local riders, which is awesome to see. He's got 2 full size SX tracks, a FMX set up and a mini track all on the one property.. It's pretty nuts.. You can check out the videos HERE.

McCoy disposed of my lucky number pretty quick. They now take pride and place on the back door of his van
It was good to see the #13 out cutting some laps around a supercross and it was a whole shitload faster than I could have ever got it round there. To make it worse, McCoy was doing it all with no rear brake! The seal had blown on the rear master cylinder and he was riding with no feel in the pedal at all.. Freak.

Mossy, Girrotto (#14) and McCoy (#13) talk lines at the Free 2 Ride supercross track
Matt Moss turned up for a bit of a lazy ride too. He was up for the King of the Valley event at Oakdale and thought he'd squeeze in a few quick laps while he was there. He started out on his 250F, but after a few troubles, he jumped on a spanking new 2010 RM-Z450 and proceeded to carve some pretty solid laps. Will we see him on a 450 for SuperX? Not likely..
Anyway, I'd had enough watching by this point and decided to head home.. Both boys were looking solid, and should be right up the front for SuperX.
Stay tuned soon for more on that new project bike.. as I said, it's a 2010 YZ250F, and some of the plans that I've seen that the crew at Serco have are pretty nuts.. should make for a good read, and even better ride! I can't go much longer without a bike.. it's doing my head in.
Till next time..
Benny
